With the visa free policies and convenient direct flights between China and Serbia, more and more Chinese people are coming to Serbia. The Chinese Embassy in Serbia reminds Chinese citizens who come to Serbia to raise their awareness of safety, strengthen prevention measures, and pay attention to safety.
1、 Travel Reminder
Before traveling, please pay attention to the safety reminders and practical information released by the China Consular Service Network, the "Consular Direct Train" official account, the website of the Embassy in Cyprus and the WeChat official account, and understand the laws, regulations, customs and habits of Cyprus. Timely understand the relevant policies of customs and other departments, carry items as required, and avoid situations of entry and exit obstruction. Check your own physical condition to ensure that your health is suitable for long-distance travel. Plan your itinerary in advance. If traveling with a group, please choose a reputable travel agency and it is recommended to purchase personal accident insurance. Pay attention to personal and property safety during travel, comply with local laws and regulations, avoid dangerous places, and maintain communication and contact with family. If you need to drive, please familiarize yourself with the local traffic rules, destination road conditions, and internet conditions in advance. If you need to rent a car, it is recommended to purchase vehicle insurance when renting. Finally, try not to carry large amounts of cash when traveling, raise awareness of anti fraud, and stay away from informal entertainment venues. In case of emergencies, please report to the local police in a timely manner and contact the Embassy in Serbia if necessary. If disputes arise with hotels, travel agencies, airlines, etc., it is recommended to exercise rational rights protection, pay attention to preserving evidence, resolve them through negotiation or legal means, and avoid extreme or irrational behavior.
2、 Reminder for carrying items upon entry
Serbia's customs are relatively strict, please pay attention to relevant information. The tobacco restrictions in personal luggage are 50 cigarettes or 25 cigars (with a weight not exceeding 3 grams) or 10 cigars or 50 grams of tobacco, or an appropriate combination of all of the above products. The alcohol limit is 1 liter of strong liquor or 1 liter of sparkling wine and sweet wine, or an appropriate combination of the above beverages and 1 liter of other wines. Other restrictions include one bottle of perfume (50ml at most) or one bottle of toilet water (25ml at most).
The relevant requirements for carrying medicines, food, plants, pets, luxury goods, electronic products, artworks, jewelry and valuables, weapons, drones, etc. can be found in the link "Serbian Customs Website" at the end of the text.
3、 Immigration visa policy issues
Starting from January 15, 2017, Chinese citizens holding valid Chinese ordinary passports can travel, do business or visit relatives in Serbia without a visa for up to 30 days after each entry; Individuals holding travel permits are not eligible for visa free policies; If you need to stay in Serbia for more than 30 days or engage in activities such as studying, residing, working, or reporting in Serbia that require prior approval from the competent authorities of Serbia, you should apply for a visa before entering the country.
Starting from November 8, 2014, Chinese citizens holding valid visas or residence permits from the United States, the United Kingdom, Schengen, and EU member states can enter Serbia visa free or transit through Serbia during the validity period of this visa or residence permit, with a cumulative stay of no more than 90 days within 6 months. This visa free policy does not conflict with the China Serbia Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement and does not apply to individuals holding travel permits or other documents.
Residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China holding valid passports are eligible for visa free entry into Serbia, with a maximum stay of 14 days. Residents of the Macao Special Administrative Region of China holding valid passports can enter Serbia visa free, with a stay period of no more than 90 days within 180 days.
Serbia is not a Schengen country and cannot enter the Schengen area without a corresponding visa. Special reminder for individuals holding a single entry Schengen visa that once they leave the Schengen area, they cannot return to the Schengen area with the aforementioned visa.
4、 Employment issues
Firstly, it is necessary to come to work legally. Visa exemption is only applicable for tourism, business or family visits, not for work purposes and has a limited stay period. To work in Lhasa, it is necessary to obtain a work visa in advance. If it has already arrived, the employer should be urged to assist in obtaining legal residency status in a timely manner.
Secondly, beware of false advertising and verbal promises. Some migrant workers have obtained information about their work in Serbia through informal channels such as social media, and have contacted individual companies or intermediaries. After paying a large intermediary fee, they have used the visa free policy to enter Serbia without signing a contract. After coming to the office, it was found that the agent had been delaying the arrangement of work or the arrangement of work was far from the previous promise, and even the agent had run away. Suggest signing an agreement with a legitimate labor service company to facilitate employment.
Finally, a labor contract should be signed before starting work to protect one's legitimate rights and interests. Verify the legitimate salary quality of intermediary companies and employing units through various channels, and check whether relevant units have labor disputes before through the enterprise query platform to ensure that there are no problems. Before coming to work in Serbia, it is necessary to sign a labor contract with the employing unit or intermediary company, fully negotiate the terms of salary benefits, airfare purchase, residence processing, sick leave returning to China, dismissal and resignation, etc., ensure that all terms are on paper, and keep the original contract. If necessary, use the contract to protect one's own rights and interests.
